Jakarta Move to Palangkaraya

On Wednesday night, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has again raised the issue of moving the national administration center from Jakarta to Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan. This issue has caused many people to speak up and give their opinions about this relocation. I certainly agree to this idea because in my opinion this relocation will bring so many advantages for our nation’s future.

To begin with, there are so many benefits that we can get from this relocation. First, by relocating the national administration center from Jakarta to Palangkaraya, it will decrease the number of population and congestion in Jakarta. As we know, Jakarta is very crowded as it is the financial center, political, business, education, industry, and tourism so the relocation will be very beneficial to solve Jakarta’s problems. Many people will move to another city and built their factories in somewhere else; so the population of Jakarta can be decreased. Following the movement of the people, the congestion in Jakarta is also decreased. There will be a little breathing space in Jakarta and Jakarta will become less populated.

Secondly, considering the geographical aspects of Palangkaraya which are more stable and strategic because it is relatively safer from natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis and it lies in the center of Indonesia, the relocation of our national administration center to Palangkaraya can help our government to set the development of every provinces from Sabang to Merauke in terms of financial, education, health, business, industry, and tourism evenly. In recent years, the developments of eastern provinces in Indonesia are lagged far behind; eastern people do not get what the western people get because western province’s improvements are more preferred. Modern infrastructures are only built in western provinces and eastern provinces is always far behind. Now it is the time to make eastern provinces better and to create a well developed society in all parts of Indonesia by distributing all improvements evenly so that all society in Indonesia can get the same rights in all cases.

From the explanation above, we can conclude that the relocation of our national administration center from Jakarta to Palangkaraya is very advantageous and useful to make our country become a better developed country. Now, it is up to us to decide whether our national administration center will be moved to Palangkaraya or not.
